Go to exhibitions
Going to exhibitions and exhibition parties are great ways to get inspiration and build connections with other artists and professionals in the industry. Going to local, independent exhibition spaces can be more productive environments for meeting new people, as opposed to the sometimes intimidating atmosphere of attending major gallery events.

Keep up with art world newsletters
Aiming to go to galleries and openings is all good and well, but how do you find out what's on and when?
In our article, The 5 Best Weekly Art World Newsletters To Keep You In The Loop, we broke down our favourite newsletters that keep your inbox full of the (often free!) happenings of London’s galleries, as well as insightful interviews and industry news from the likes of The Shared Drive.
If you’re particularly interested in a comprehensive guide as to many of the London-based exhibitions and openings happening on a weekly basis, we recommend Seb’s Art List. “It has been made for those who make, buy, love and work in art”
For a more curated guide, we recommend Londonist: Urban Palette - the weekly Newsletter from Art Critic Tabish Khan. In his words, “a man so into his art that he visits over 1,000 museums and galleries every year”. Find more of his recommendations over on FAD Magazine, where he regularly contributes.
Make use of the 'link in bio'
Having an active social media presence is key for establishing yourself in the industry. If you are selling any of the art that you're posting (for example through the BRUSHWRK app), make sure to make your posts shoppable through the link in your bio. We use Later's 'Link in Bio' feature to link all of our Instagram posts to the listing on the BRUSHWRK app/website.
This feature also allows you to add 'banners' - any other links that you might want to direct your followers to, like any press you've received, exhibitions you've been apart of and your website.
Use platforms for creative networking
Not getting anywhere with Linkedin? Have a go at using platforms like The Dots, which is a professional networking platform specifically aimed at creative industries. It’s designed to connect people in fields like design, art, film, advertising, architecture, and more. If you're an emerging artist or creative, The Dots is a great platform to showcase your work, build your network, and connect with other professionals in the creative world.

Download the free BRUSHWRK app and set up your profile
Follow the simple steps when you open the app and add your basic info.
At this stage, you can add your artist bio
Make sure to include links to your social media/website and any non-piece specific information that you want buyers to know.
Upload the pieces you want to sell
These can be originals or prints. If you are selling a sculpture or any other fragile art make sure to consider how it will be safely shipped.
When uploading your work, you will be asked to enter the dimensions, a description and the price.
Include any piece-specific information here - can you make various sizes of prints? Should the buyer message you before buying?
Publish your work
Once you’ve published your listing, your work will go onto the explore page of the BRUSHWRK app for buyers to browse.
Galleries and curators charge artists 40-50% just to show their work - this forces artists to raise prices if they want to make any real money which in turn makes art more expensive. We only take a 5% commission on pieces sold.
Ship your work to the buyer!
Great, your piece has sold! You will receive a notification within the app and to your email with delivery instructions. The artist themselves is responsible for sending off their work, so simply ship it off as soon as you can!
Get Paid
The money will arrive in the bank account that you have attached to your profile once the sale has been completed!
