Lauren Halsey: emajendat

Serpentine South Gallery

Until 23rd February 2025



"For the past decade, Lauren Halsey (b. 1987, Los Angeles, USA) has developed a distinct visual language deeply rooted in South Central Los Angeles where her family has lived for generations. Through objects and installations, Halsey archives and remixes the changing signs and symbols of her environment, gathering physical and graphic material from her neighbourhood. In her work Halsey merges past, present and future via her interest in iconography connected to the African diaspora, Black and queer icons and architecture. Halsey cites the collective sonic and visual layering associated with funk music as the blueprint for her approach to making, traversing time and drawing on a wide range of sources"


New Contemporaries

ICA London

January 15th - March 25th 2025



"Marking 75 years of New Contemporaries, the annual exhibition returns to the ICA, having had a regular presence here in the 1960s, 70s, 80s and more recently in the 2010s. New Contemporaries is a unique platform, which provides emerging and early career artists with a wider audience to their work. This edition features 35 artists who have been selected through an open call by artists Liz Johnson Artur, Permindar Kaur and Amalia Pica"


Philip Colbert: The Battle for Lobsteropolis

Saatchi Gallery

"Saatchi Gallery presents The Battle for Lobsteropolis, a new exhibition by celebrated contemporary artist Philip Colbert. Known for his hyperpop history paintings, Colbert continues his signature battle scene series, where the lobster battles artificial intelligence in the retro-future world Lobsteropolis"
